How to Turn Off Virus and Threat Protection in Windows 10
We are going to see how to turn off virus and threat protection in Windows 10 in this post. At times you might be required to turn off your virus and threat protection center since it often tends to delete a file that appears like a virus to it.
But you know that file isn’t a virus, but since it doesn’t have any predefined condition or definition, your system automatically removes it without taking your opinion on the matter. I know it ends up becoming very very frustrating. To avoid that, you can simply turn off the feature with a simple tweak.
Here you are going to see how to do exactly that. I have made a step by step tutorial on how to turn off virus and threat protection in Windows 10.
Steps to Turn Off Virus and Threat Protection
Step 1: Type Windows Security in the Search box as shown in the figure:
Step 2: Click on Windows Security App to open it.
The next screen will be that of the Windows Security App. Your business remains with the second option.
Step 3: Click on the shield button which will be generally the second option in the bar located towards the left as shown in the figure below:
Step 4: Click on Manage Settings which might be located under the Virus & threat protection settings tab. That is right underneath the turn on button.
Step 5: Click on the Real-time protection switch, which will switch it off. You will get a notification like this in red, once that’s done:
That’s it!
It has been turned off. Now you can once again try downloading or copying that software that was being blocked by it.
NOTE: Remember Windows doesn’t advise you to turn this off, and hence even after you have turned it off, after some time your OS will automatically turn it on.
Here I have made a quick video of the process that was explained above:
