How to Add a Link to an Image in WordPress

We will see how to add a link to an image in WordPress in this step by step tutorial.

While I have talked about it a little bit in the HTML section, I would like to take this up here as well since a majority of people are on WordPress these days. Even though it is quite simple to achieve in HTML, it is far simpler to do in WordPress since here we have a readily available button for that in the Editor itself.

So I am assuming you have an image in your editor like this:

If you don’t know how to add an image, you can use the Add Media button available on the top bar of your editor:

It’s exactly what I have used to add the above image.

Now just follow the following steps to add a link to that image, so that when you publish the article and when you click the image that same link opens.

Step 1: Click on your image so that it is selected. Then click the insert/edit link button available on the top bar of your WordPress editor:

When you follow the above step you will get a URL textbox asking you to enter your link.

Step 2: Enter your link in the area. You can simply copy paste it if you have that link open in a different tab. Once you are done click that blue return button right next to it.

View your post or page to see the result.

Step 4: Click on the image.
