How to Uninstall Extension from Safari

Well, I know sometimes easy tasks become Herculean when you don’t find the answer you are looking for. Don’t worry this Dumb IT Dude got you covered. You might have installed an extension that you no longer need. Well, you can simply uninstall it. Here’s how to uninstall an extension from Safari.

Steps on How to Uninstall Extension from Safari

Okay, I am assuming that you have already opened the Safari browser.

Step 1: Navigate to Safari > Settings… or you can use the shortcut , together.

Doing so will open the following window. You just have to navigate to the Extensions tab now.

Step 2: Click on the Extensions tab as shown in the image below:

Step 3: On the left side of the screen, all the installed extensions will be visible. You just have to now click on the extension you want to remove. Here in this scenario, I want to get rid of ‘PocketTube’ extension that I no longer need. So I am just going to click on it.

Clicking on it shows details about on the right side panel. But what you will also see is the button that says Uninstall.

That’s it! You guessed right, You just have to click on Uninstall button.

NOTE: Now when you click on Uninstall sometimes you will get the following message:

What this means is that an application is installed first for this extension. That in order to uninstall you have to first get rid of that application.

Step 4: In such a case, you can click on the Show in Finder button which will open your Finder, from where now you can delete that application. Select the application. Then either right click and select Move to Bin or simply press + delete button together.

The next screen might or might not ask for your password for making such a core change. Hence provide that, and you are good to go.

Step 5: Click on Use Password… then provide your system password in the available textbox area.

Once you provide it, the application and the extension will be gone.

As you can see PocketTube is no longer visible in the extensions area.
